USA Defeats Pakistan in Super Over at T20 World Cup

The eleventh match of the T20 World Cup 2024 was played yesterday between America and Pakistan. In this match, the American team defeated Pakistan. America created history by defeating Pakistan in the Super Over in the Grand Prairie Stadium match. However, Pakistan is facing a lot of criticism for this embarrassing defeat. Regarding the match, Pakistan, who lost the toss and batted first, scored 159 runs for the loss of seven wickets. In response, the American team could only score 159 runs in 20 overs and the score was tied.

America gave a target of 18 runs in the super over

In this super over, the US team got the chance to bat first, while Pakistan gave the responsibility of bowling to Mohammad Aamir. Aaron Jones made a great start by hitting a four on the first ball of this over, then scored a total of 3 runs on the second and third balls. The fourth ball of the over was wide, making a total of 2 runs and then after that with one more run on the fourth ball, USA’s score reached 10 runs. The 5^th ball was again wide, making 2 runs and after that Jones scored 2 runs on the 5^th legal delivery. Aamir then bowled the next ball wide, on which a total of 3 runs were scored, with this the score of the US team reached 17 runs without any loss, while with one run on the last ball of the over, the US team gave Pakistan a target of 19 runs to win.

Iftikhar Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman took charge in Pakistan’s attempt to achieve the target of 19 runs in the super over. SaurabhNetravalkar was bowling the over from America’s side. Babar took responsibility for the defeat

After the powerplay, Pakistan’s score was only thirty runs. During this time, they also lost three wickets. The Pakistani captain claimed that his team was unable to take advantage of the powerplay. However, he also scored 5 runs off 14 balls during this period. In an interview given after the match, Babar Azam said, “While batting, we did not take advantage of the first six overs.” The team was constantly under pressure due to the fall of wickets. Babar Azam claims that the US team performed better than Pakistan in the areas of batting, bowling and fielding. Pakistan may be eliminated from the World Cup
